The American’T Dream The Purse Suit Of Happyness

This Video is great! Evey one needs to watch it every day.

“The American’T Dream The Purse Suit Of Happyness)_Spoken Word”

“If you don’t build your dream, someone will hire you to help build theirs…”-Tony Gaskins

Definition of The American’T Dream

* The American’t Dream is a satire on the “rags to riches” notion of the American Dream.

* It represents the ideal that people strive for success by working an unsatisfactory job, rather than a fulfilling career that feeds their own success and passion. So rather than chasing the “American Dream” they are chasing the “American’t Dream” by allowing their own dreams to be stifled by another person’s dream.

Everybody claims they want SUCCESS, but very few truly pursue it. Following on from the success (2 Million YouTube views) of “Why I Hate School But Love Education”. “The American’t Dream” addresses the distinctions between the principles of a job you make yourself do day in day out, and a career you love and are really passionate about.

As time goes by, we become more preoccupied with surviving as opposed to living. Many people are content with having a stable routine job (which doesn’t pose any risks to their way of living), rather than pursing their own creative ambitions. They frequently complain about detesting their job, but continuously put themselves in this unsatisfactory position, accepting this is all they’re worth.

Why do we spend our time struggling to work for other people, rather than build and achieve our own dreams?

What’s stopping us from finding out what our dreams are and chasing them?

In a society where the 9–5 job routine has now become the epitome of success for the average person. Is the possibility of a promotion or generic work achievements really what spurs them on in life?

Is it the fear of failure or the loss of stability, which leaves us trapped chasing this American’t Dream?

I Will Not Let An Exam Result Decide My Fate

I Will Not Let An Exam Result Decide My Fate – Suli Breaks,Vanity Fair,2009

“I Will Not Let An Exam Result Decide My Fate” picks up on the education topic but takes a different stance and angle from “Why I Hate School But Love Education”. This poem talks about how we have been made to think about how education and getting university degrees can give us opportunities to have a better chance in making our dream careers a reality. It also touches on how as individuals we are judged and tested by how well we perform on exams, but not all people perform well in exams so why are they made out to feel like they’re dumb? The inconsistencies of the education system are really peeled open to reveal a deep problem that needs to be addressed and how society’s needs have changed to make this even more apparent.

When it boils down to it, why are we misled into thinking that education is the only way forward for successful means in our work and career lives? We need to open our minds and educate ourselves that exam results aren’t the barometer of success and that we can’t let them decide our fate. We are in charge of our own destinies!

What if Money Was No Object – Alan Watts

British philosopher and writer Alan Watts (1915-1973), author of the cult-classic The Way of Zen, played a key role in popularizing Eastern philosophy in the West, like John Cage had done, in the middle of the 20th century. In this short remix video, a fine complement to this omnibus of wisdom on how to find your purpose and do what you love, Watts asks the seemingly simple question of
What if Money Was No Object

What if Money Was No Object by Alan Watts

What do you desire? What makes you itch? What sort of a situation would you like?

Let’s suppose, I do this often in vocational guidance of students, they come to me and say, well, we’re getting out of college and we have the faintest idea what we want to do. So I always ask the question, what would you like to do if money was no object? How would you really enjoy spending your life?

Well, it’s so amazing as a result of our kind of educational system, crowds of students say well, we’d like to be painters, we’d like to be poets, we’d like to be writers, but as everybody knows you can’t earn any money that way. Or another person says well, I’d like to live an out-of-doors life and ride horses. I said you want to teach in a riding school? Let’s go through with it. What do you want to do?

When we finally got down to something, which the individual says he really wants to do, I will say to him, you do that and forget the money, because, if you say that getting the money is the most important thing, you will spend your life completely wasting your time. You’ll be doing things you don’t like doing in order to go on living, that is to go on doing things you don’t like doing, which is stupid. Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way.

And after all, if you do really like what you’re doing, it doesn’t matter what it is, you can eventually turn it – you could eventually become a master of it. It’s the only way to become a master of something, to be really with it. And then you’ll be able to get a good fee for whatever it is. So don’t worry too much. That’s everybody is – somebody is interested in everything, anything you can be interested in, you will find others will. But it’s absolutely stupid to spend your time doing things you don’t like, in order to go on spending things you don’t like, doing things you don’t like and to teach our children to follow in the same track.

See what we are doing, is we’re bringing up children and educating to live the same sort of lifes we are living. In order that they may justify themselves and find satisfaction in life by bringing up their children to bring up their children to do the same thing, so it’s all retch, and no vomit it never gets there. And so, therefore, it’s so important to consider this question,

What do I desire?
